Three international fraudsters used a one time bank building in Torquay to set up an elaborate sting which cheated would be borrowers out of some £6m.
Founder members of The fictitious 'Bank Europe', which in reality had assets of just £187, offered business customers throughout the world the lure of secured international currency loans in exchange for initial arrangement fees.
The most unfortunate victim of Bank Europe's scheming was a German businessman who parted with $1.5M in anticipation of a secured loan of $100M, which signally failed to materialise.
The bogus bank officials were said by victims to be totally plausible and believable international financiers.

When petite blonde Belgian call girl Rita Verstraeten began to spend more and more time with retired multi-millionaire Roger Gosset , some forty years her senior, few paid much attention.

Nigeria has long been one of the most dangerous locations in the world in which to do business - and this month has seen the murder of yet another British businessman. The victim, along with eight colleagues from the same leading oil company, was attacked within company premises at Eket in south west Nigeria when armed raiders overwhelmed a single security guard and overran the unit searching for cash.
